Kolob Hiking

On your drive up Kolob Terrace Road you will enter Zion National Park boundaries many times. Below are some great hikes you don’t want to miss.

Grapevine Trail

1.5 Miles Round-trip Elevation: 492 feet

Less visited trail in Zion National Park. Grapevine trail will be an immediate decent down to Grapevine Spring. Depending on water levels this could be a nice swimming hole. The steep way back to the parking lot will be a lot harder than the way down. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!

Subway Trail

8 Miles Round-trip Elevation: 600 feet

A permit from the National Park Service is required for this hike. This non-technical hike descends into the creek bed where you follow up canyon for 4 miles until you arrive at the very famous Subway. You will eventually get to a small water course you cannot climb past and you can return back to the trailhead. Always pay attention to the weather and water levels prior to starting the hilke. Your feet will get wet and some boulder hopping might be required. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!

Hop Valley Trail to Kolob Arch

14.3 Miles Round-trip Elevation: 1,791 feet

A more strenuous hike, this sandy hike will decent to Kolob Arch, remember you can always explore as far as you’d like and return for a shorter version. Backcountry permits required for overnight trips. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!

Wildcat Trail to Northgate Peaks

4.2 Miles Round-trip Elevation: 100 feet

This hike will take you along pine trees and an amazing overlook over Zion National Park. The trail will start at Wildcat trailhead, hike 1.2 miles until you see a junction where you will hike right to Northgate peaks, follow to a magical overlook. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!

Lava Point Overlook

.1 Miles Round-trip Elevation: 0 feet

A very easy walk from the parking area to an amazing overlook above Zion National Park. There are signs that map out each peak for a different perspective. PS. Best cell service on the mountain. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!

West Rim Trail

16.2 Miles (car shuttle needed) Elevation: 700 feet Decent: 3,600 feet

A very beautiful strenuous hike, this hike starts at the West Rim Trailhead (down Lava Point Rd) and decends into the main canyon at the Grotto Trailhead (beginning of Angels Landing). Car shuttle needed. This trail is worth every mile, the views are ever changing, first from above Zion and eventually ending at the canyon floor with the peaks now towering over you. Backcountry permits required for all overnight trips. This trail is in the National Park and dogs are not allowed. Remember to leave no trace & always pack it in-pack it out!
